I visited my Grandfather’s grave with my Grandmother. Today, Grandfather would have turned 97 years old.
We have all heard the story of the dash. The beginning and end dates do not matter, but the dash in the middle is what is important. What did you do with your dash? How did you live?
But, Grandfather was different. I always considered his dates to be different. Grandfather has two dashes.
The first date is his earthly birth date. On August 13, 1916, Buford Clark came into the world. He was born in a sod dugout in Jordan, Montana. Growing up in the Great Depression was challenging. The stories of digging his own pool and panning for gold to help the family were always told with gusto. He went to college and eventually seminary. He worked. He lived. He had a wonderful dash.
Is the dash all there is???? No, not for Grandfather.
The second date is his heavenly birth date. On May 19, 2009, Buford Clark came into heaven. He had made a decision many years ago that made this journey possible. The decision to receive Jesus Christ as his Savior. For over 20 years, Grandpa pastored churches. Grandpa was a committed Christian.
Which dash are you investing in? The first or second dash?
